South Chingford Foundation School

Safeguarding

At South Chingford Foundation School, the health, safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. All staff and governors share this commitment to the safeguarding of our students and understanding of this is promoted through training and strands of this statutory guidance being woven into policy documents which underpin all that staff do.

Safeguarding legislation and government guidance states that safeguarding means:

  • Protecting children from maltreatment.
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development.
  • Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care.
  • Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcome.

All staff are trained in Child Protection, and students are made aware of staff to speak to with any concerns.

The school has a Mental Health Key Worker from the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service within North East London Foundation Trust (NHS) who is in school for one full day each week.

It is our aim to work in close partnership with parents and carers to support every student to achieve their full potential, make positive contributions and feel happy, safe and secure in their environment.
